What is Garrett Park Summer Music Camp?
Garrett Park Summer Music Camp is a week-long summer camp where kids ages 6 to 17 can learn to play music in a band together, and then perform those songs at a rock show on Friday night with lights, sound, & the awesome energy of a live audience (that's you, parents!). 


What is the weekly itinerary like?
Throughout the week, campers will get individual instruction on their instrument, group classes on live performance, group band practice time, contests, and more!  Additionally, campers will watch a live performance from a touring band with a private Q&A after the performance. (see who is scheduled to perform at camp).  On Friday, campers will run through their show and prepare their final performance.  On Friday night, students will perform the songs they have been learning all week at a real venue and share the spotlight with their fellow campers.

What time does camp take place?
Monday: 9AM to 3PM  (*Please arrive early to complete registration your first day)
Tuesday:  9AM to 3PM
Wed: 9AM to 3PM
Thu: 9AM to 3PM
Fri: 9AM to 8PM
 


What dates are Garrett Park Summer Music Camp?

Session 1 - June 10th through 14th- Enroll

Session 2 - June 17th through 21st- Enroll

Session 3 - July 8th through 12th- Enroll

Session 4 - July 22nd through 26th- Enroll

Session 5 - July 29th through August 2nd- Enroll

Session 6 - August 5th through August 9th- Enroll

 

 

Is lunch provided?
Lunch is not provided, so please have your kids pack a lunch and bring it.  Water and snacks will be available at Garrett Park Summer Music Camp.


What instruments can attend at this camp?
Voice, Guitar (Acoustic or Electric are OK), Ukelele, Bass Guitar, Piano or Keyboard, and Drums or Percussion.


What should my child bring to camp?
If your child plays guitar, bass, or ukelele, they should bring:  
    - Their instrument and lunch each day.
If your child plays drums, they should bring:  
    - Drums sticks and their lunch each day.
If your child plays the piano or sings, they will not need to bring anything except their lunch each day.


This seems loud.  What are precautionary measures taken here?
We agree.  Rock music can be loud and we take your child's hearing very seriously.  Earplugs and hearing protection are provided for all students at any time during camp.  During rehearsals, students will wear headphones with limiters to control volume.  Please call if you have any questions at 410-571-9660.


What other activities are scheduled?
Individual lesson instruction, masterclasses by local and regional musicians, a touring band performance with Q&A after, performance instruction, contests and more.


Is there a discount for multiple weeks or multiple children?
Yes, parents can receive a $50 discount for enrolling multiple children or multiple weeks.  See the camp registration page for all discounts.


Can you accommodate campers with special needs? 
In most cases, yes!  Please give us a call at 410-571-9660 to discuss if you have questions.


Who are the instructors for this year's Garrett Park Summer Music Camp?
This year's summer camp will be run by the store staff & music instructors at Garrett Park.  Please have a look at our school instructors page for more details on your camp instructors.


Will this camp have a chaperone?
Yes, all children will have a chaperone (or several chaperones) at all times.  We do not allow campers to leave camp at any time.  

 

Where is the Friday night show at?  
This summer's camp show location is still to be determined, but previous Garret Park School of music shows have been at Metropolitan Lounge, 49 West, Salvation Army, and MD Hall.


What does camp tuition cover?  Does it also include the performance and masterclasses?
Yes, tuition includes everything needed for this camp.  Tuition also includes a t-shirt.  A professional photo and print at the Friday night performance can be purchased for an additional fee of $20/camper. 

 

What is the cost of this camp?
The cost of the 2019 camp is only $349.  If you enroll before April 29th, 2019, the cost is only $309!  You can also save more by enrolling multiple children or enrolling in multiple weeks.
